AAC PhoneTop K-12 becomes 3rd Product in the World to achieve Cisco Compatibility.
May 10, 2004
Vienna, Virginia AAC Inc., a leading provider of network engineering, convergence technologies, information assurance and IP Communications applications solutions, today announced that the company’s award-winning PhoneTop® K-12 XML application suite has passed 3rd party independent verification testing (IVT) with Cisco Systems® CallManager Express v3.1.
“Our popular application suite for the Education IP Telephony users, PhoneTop K-12, represents the third product in the entire world to achieve the Cisco Compatible logo demonstrating complete interoperability with Cisco CallManager version 3.1.” said Shelia Reagan, Director of IP Communications Applications at AAC. “We have placed great effort in ensuring that our product offerings are fully compatible with the Cisco products they enhance.” Shelia said. “We have achieved compliance testing with CallManager 3.2, 3.3 and now CallManager Express 3.1. We have also conducted internal testing of our products with CallManager version 4.0 (as of yet not generally available).”
Only those products which have been successfully tested by a Cisco-approved 3rd party can advertise the Cisco Compatible logo. Compatibility is assured through extensive, independent testing of 3rd party applications and can be found by looking for products displaying the Cisco Compatible logo.
If you are planning on purchasing and deploying applications to work in conjunction with Cisco CallManager, it is strongly recommended that you ensure that the product you are buying is certified. If you deploy non-certified products in your network and call Cisco TAC for help on Cisco IP Communications products, Cisco TAC may refuse to help you until you first uninstall the non-certified products.
“There are many applications out there being demonstrated at Cisco events and shows, but, for the most part these applications are simply demo-strength utilities and are not IVT verified. Indeed there is a set of K-12 applications that has existed as PowerPoint slide-ware now for almost a full year with the vendor essentially copying everything that we at AAC innovate.” said Doug Bowlds, VP of Engineering at AAC. “It’s amusing, as soon as we invent something or enhance our applications, this vendor, whom we affectionately call ‘Lampshade’ simply adds our inventions to their brochures.” “When it comes to vendors such as this, all we can say is, caveat emptor!”
