DALLAS--(MARKETWIRE)—March 9, 2004—(OTCBB:CNHC)—
CNH Holdings Company today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Corvero Networks, Inc., which designs and develops Extensible Markup Language (XML)-based application appliances to facilitate the convergence of voice, video and data in a Cisco IP Telephony environment, has signed a Letter of Intent with AAC, Inc. of Vienna, VA. AAC, Inc., the developer of the award-winning PhoneTop® applications that enhance the capabilities of Cisco Systems’ IP Telephones, will become the company’s first Certified Third-Party IPT Application Development Partner.
Under the terms of the agreement, AAC’s PhoneTop® K-12, designed for the U.S. education market, will be the first third-party application offered on the Corvero Convergence Server™ (CCS). It will extend the suite of applications available on the CCS to offer schools the most robust package of XML applications customized to help teachers and school administrators leverage the full capabilities of their Cisco IP Phones. IP Telephones combine a telephone handset with a built in monitor, thus allowing users to access voice, video and data on one unit. PhoneTop® K-12 applications, which are displayed and described in detail at www.phonetop.com, include:
- Attendance Manager—Combines photo ID with attendance record-keeping
- Electronic Hall Passes—A pass with photo verification that allows staff to monitor students’ movement outside of the classroom from any IP phone
- Functional Phone Book—A phone directory on the screen that provides numbers by function as well as name
- Student Management—A complete student file including schedule, activities and daily updates
- Daily Bulletin—Allows school administration to issue bulletins and alerts to the entire school in a timely and efficient manner
- Visitor/Intern Control—Used with a digital camera, this module allows enhanced security by providing all authorized visitors with photo ID delivered to every handset
- Time Keeper—This module serves as a time clock for employees
- AMBER Alerts—This module provides missing children alerts to subscribed phones
“We are excited to be working with a partner with such strong industry specific applications, stated Derek P. Downs, Corvero Networks’ vice president of marketing and business development. With the government’s E-Rate funding program helping to fund the “wiring” of every classroom in our nation’s schools, applications like these will help educational institutions operate more efficiently and with greater security.”
As Application Development Partners, AAC, Inc. and Corvero Networks, Inc. will work together to design advanced application solutions for IP Telephony customers. The first joint project will be to develop the Corvero Convergence Server™ as an exclusive platform for AAC’s Emergency Alert System and AMBER Alerts Solutions which provide audible and textual notifications for national and local security, weather and AMBER alerts based on intelligent filters.
“AAC’s PhoneTop solutions are a great example of how to take IP Telephony to the next step,” commented Greg T. Royal, vice president and chief technical officer of Corvero Networks. “Integrating core school processes and functionality into the phone device and then extending the capabilities of IPT to include Broadcast, Recording, and RuleSets (Time-of-Day Ringing/Routing) makes for a compelling solution for the education market.”
“The combination of the AAC and Corvero solutions creates the most powerful set of XML applications in a single offering”, said Douglas N. Bowlds, vice president of engineering services at AAC, Inc. “We have decided to leverage the Corvero platform to increase the power and scalability of the PhoneTop® applications set. We have been leading the way in IPT applications development for several years now and look forward to taking the solutions to the next level by combining efforts with Corvero.”
