September 16, 2003
Vienna, Virg AAC Inc., announced today that the company’s popular PhoneTop applications for the Cisco IP Telephones won 20 percent of the awards passed out by Cisco Systems and the Cisco IP Telephony User’s Group (CIPTUG) last Friday. The 3rd annual CIPTUG Innovation Through Convergence (ITC) Expo was held during 10-12 September 2003 at the Westin Santa Clara Convention Center.
AAC’s PhoneTop K-12 suite is comprised of XML (eXtensible Markup Language) applications that empower schools to get the most from their Cisco IP Telephony network by helping faculty members conduct a number of administrative functions, such as:
' Classroom attendance management
' Electronic hall pass management
' Phone book dialing by job function
' Student information management
' Time keeping
' Visitor/Intern control
' Daily bulletin
AAC also unveiled two brand new PhoneTop products at the expo:
' PhoneTop Amber Alerts – An application which pushes official child abduction alerts to the end users’ phones, complete with pictures as available.
' PhoneTop EAS Alerts – An application appliance that receives and broadcasts Emergency Alert Service (EAS, formerly Emergency Broadcast Service) warnings and alerts to end users’ phones. This includes federal alerts, civil emergency messages, and national weather service alerts as well as those Amber alerts which enter into the EAS network.
Together, the PhoneTop products were found to be “Best in Class” by the CIPTUG judges and received the following awards:
' 2003 Award for Innovation in the Vertical Market Government & Transportation
' 2003 Award for Innovation in the Vertical Market K-12 Education
' 2003 Award for Innovation in the Category of Customer Satisfaction
' 2003 Best Innovative Use of Technology Award
“I’m pleased that AAC’s efforts were again recognized this year by Cisco and CIPTUG. We first entered the ITC Expo last year when our PhoneTop products won best in class for the K-12 and Customer Satisfaction categories, and we are proud to repeat and exceed that achievement.” said Jim Francis, President of AAC.
