AAC News AAC Inc. showcases PhoneTop applications at Cisco Systems Innovation Through Convergence Exposition April 5, 2002 Vienna, Virginia – AAC Inc., a leading provider of network engineering, convergence technologies, and information assurance solutions, today announced that the company showcased its XML applications at the Cisco Systems’ annual Innovation Through Convergence (ITC) Exposition. Cisco held their Second Annual Innovation Through Convergence Expo in Dallas, Texas, which features their IP Phone Services Bake-off. This annual competition allows Cisco IP Telephony vendors to demonstrate innovative approaches to maximizing the benefits of IP Phones by creating “smart functions” on the phone screen. These services are applications that run on the phones rather than on personal computers. Also attending the expo was the Director of Information Technology of Frederick County Public Schools, Virginia, Mr. Robert Yost. Mr. Yost participated at the request of Cisco to provide testimony to the advantages of using AAC’s PhoneTop applications. Said Mr. Yost: “Implementing AAC’s customized XML applications has dramatically increased communication and efficiency between our 15 schools and 20 networked sites. The faculty has reported high satisfaction with the new phones and adapted very quickly to their user friendly applications.” “Our XML applications take full advantage of the fact that the Cisco IP Phones are XML clients and allow the user to perform many functions that otherwise would be unavailable at the typical telephone end point,” said Ugur Koser, Chief Technology Office at AAC. “Participation at the expo gives us direct exposure and feedback from the AVVID user community across a wide market.” “We were very pleased when we heard Mr. James Richardson, Senior Vice President and Cisco’s Chief Marketing Officer, use the AAC/Frederick County Schools PhoneTop implementation as an example in his keynote address which opened the exposition,” said Muhammad Sabir, Senior XML Programmer within AAC’s Convergence Technologies Business Unit.
